The quintet Bernd Noske (vocals, percussion), Bruno Frenzel (guitar, vocals), Ulrich Klein (keyboards), Jürgen Goldschmidt (bass) and Stefan Linke (guitar) recorded the long-playing record “BÄNG” in early summer 1982. Probably none of the participants suspected that it would be the last work of the legendary formation for the time being. After years of progressive preferences, which had a particular impact on “Backdoor Possibilities” and “Increase”, the band had rediscovered their favourite for transparent rock music. However, the return to more removed, more direct arrangements, had no commercial causes. Birth Control had always remained true to her own preferences, had never hung her flag in the wind and did not do it even in the face of the 'New Deutsche Welle' that comes in. Typical for main composer Frenzel, however, numerous lyrics of this album have challenging, sometimes even apocalyptic themes, which present the gloomy visions of the guitarist in an unmistakable way. Also particularly worth seeing is not only the cheeky-ironic front cover of the album with the atomic bomb explosion under the rock of Marylin Monroe, but also the back of the artwork, which also visually underlines the predominantly prevailing end-time mood of the Frenzel texts. At a time when the Neue Deutsche Welle and Anglo-Saxon techno-pop set the tone, the traditionally oriented rock work of Birth Control was no longer noticed and was only said for a short time in the record stores in Germany. For the fans, however, “BANG” is and remains a revelation! This is the first reissue on vinyl since the original from 1982, seen from a French pressing from 1983. On CD is “Bäng!” hasn't been available since 1997 and has been upgraded not only by bonus single versions, but also with two previously unreleased live tracks.
